Where were the hand blown Italian hanging pendants that I knew existed? You could see them sometimes in coffee houses but not in any stores. Even going out of the county I could only find ordinary lighting.

Well, that started me on my pursuit for art-glass lighting. Since I couldn’t find the lights I wanted, I searched for someone to make them for me. That didn’t work out, so I took a glass class in fusing and slumping. I made these very weird but charming hanging pendants that went over the bar in my kitchen. They looked something like a handkerchiefs and deep sea creatures.

I first thought about selling my lighting creations from home but instead I opened a small store.

Now I have the hand blown Italian lights that I was looking for and a pretty good selection of lights by local artists as well.

I can order the ordinary but I definitely strive for the extraordinary. Life is too short for boring lighting.

I have been aware my whole life that lighting can change the atmosphere of a room. My parents always had beautiful lighting in their home and it always made me feel good. I didn’t understand why some families would eat their dinners under ghastly bright and fluorescent lights.

Everyone should have nice lighting. If that were the law, the world would be a happier place.
